Success Stories

Zane dropped out of high school to care for his nieces while his mom and sister worked. He worked various minimum wage jobs over the years and was recommended for manager positions, but could never be promoted due to not having a high school diploma. After learning about the Adult Education program at Northwest Mississippi Community College, Zane was unsure if he could keep up since he had been out of school for so many years. However, he quickly realized that not only could he do it, he could excel at it! Zane said he felt the staff believed in him and truly wanted to help him accomplish his goals. He passed his HSE with exceptional scores and earned a $50 incentive check from 2nd Chance MS. Zane stated, “The check was very useful and appreciated. I am between jobs right now and gas is expensive. It feels incredible to know people believe in me and think I am smart.” Zane has enrolled in NWMCC for the Fall 2024 semester, majoring in Cybersecurity. Zane will be taking the ACT Residual test at NWCC in June, thanks to the generosity of 2nd Chance MS paying for testing fees. “I can’t wait to get going with my classes and finally have a career that I love and can help me give my family the life I have always wanted us to have. None of this would be possible without the support of 2nd Chance MS!
